Ronald McNair was a NASA astronaut and physicist who perished during the launch of the Space Shuttle Challenger. Ronald McNair Middle School was dedicated in his memory, providing a source of pride and inspiration to students of this primarily African American neighborhood in Atlanta. Satre Group Principal John Anderson served as Principal-in-Charge for the site design and landscape architecture components of this campus. A series of exterior spaces spilling out from adjoining classrooms blur the lines of traditional classroom setups. A palette of colorful and low maintenance plant material complete the setting.
